Sanitation Safety Planning and Governance System

About the course

By definition, Sanitation Safety Plans (SSP) manage risks associated with wastewater use in agriculture. Accordingly, very low level of wastewater treatment would not exclude wastewater from being used safely for agriculture production, which might reduce burden on governments regarding huge investments required for high level of wastewater treatment. Consequently, safe agricultural reuse might be optimized at far lower investments, which results in better management of available resources. Moreover, safety plans would allow countries to better control their current practices particularly in cases where raw wastewater is used for irrigation by defining and monitoring of control measures at all sanitation chain starting from toilet and ending up at consumers table.
